Axis Architecture since 1994

Baston House School

– Bromley, London

Our Client Moorcroft Manor commissioned Axis to prepare a feasibility for alterations and extensions to a school which is for ASD Pupils in Bromley, Kent.

The existing school had been a private girls school, but had closed and was bought by Hillcrest to convert into a school for autistic children at primary and secondary level.

The scheme was to convert the existing building to suit and to build a major single storey extension to the side and rear of the building to accommodate the extra classrooms and related facilities.

The design challenge was to research and understand designing for autistic users that have particular environment requirements to allow them to thrive, learn and feel safe.

The scheme was well received but is currently awaiting funding.

Client: Moorcroft Manor Ltd.
