The brief for this project was to provide a site layout and design for 19 residential units in accordance with the Eastleigh Borough Council Supplementary Planning Document for ‘Quality Spaces’. Outline Planning Approval was gained for a mixture of detached, semi-detached, terraced houses and flats with 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedrooms. The proposal will provide 13 private market houses and 6 affordable homes in accordance with the housing requirements of the Borough.
The site presented numerous constraints which the approved layout has managed to successfully address. e.g. protected view across the site to the historic Bursledon Windmill, tree root protection zones, ground water source protection zone, reptile receptor zone & 4m wide link corridor across the site, steeply sloping contours requiring a ramped access & retaining wall structure, restricted visibility splays to the site access, storm water attenuation pond & underground tank.
Despite being one of the most restricted sites we have ever worked on, Axis were still able to provide a design which successfully maximised its development potential.
