Martin Hoy – Joins Axis Architecture
At Axis Architecture, we’re proud of our dedication to excellent client service. Our team must continue to grow and develop to deliver the high standards of projects we are known for. So, we are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Associate Director, Martin Hoy.
About Martin Hoy:
Martin’s fascination with architecture began when his family moved into a new-build house at just ten years old. He found himself intrigued by the process as the plans turned into a reality and the family’s new home took shape. It was no surprise to Martin (or his family) that he subsequently studied architecture at the University of Portsmouth.
Martin joins us with a wealth of experience. His seventeen-year career has seen him work with several South Coast architectural practices. In recent years Martin has specialised in designing buildings for a burgeoning UK leisure industry. Projects include the Butlins Splash Water Park, which he credits as delivering the most fun you could have at work! That said, Martin also believes that any career where you can draw for a living and bring people’s dreams to life means that every day at work is fulfilling and enjoyable.
Asked for his number one piece of advice for our clients embarking on an architectural project, Martin answers, “There will always be compromises, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up on your dream.” We are delighted to welcome Martin to the team. With his can-do optimism, he will be the perfect fit for our team. We know our clients are going to love working with him.
What makes Martin tick…
- Favourite Quote: ‘Architecture is the thoughtful making of space’ – Louis Kahn
- Favourite Book: Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino
- Desert Island Discs: Oxygen – Jean Michel Jarre, Little Earthquakes – Tori Amos, A Larum – Johnny Flynn.
And when Martin isn’t working, you’ll find him spending time with his kids at the beach, at the local zoo or wandering around the countryside. He also enjoys cycling in and around the beautiful South Downs.
