Axis Architecture Comes to London:
Our New Base at Quo Vadis
A new London home for Axis Architecture
For more than three decades, Axis Architecture has called the South Coast home.
Founded in 1994, our Hampshire-based practice has grown from its roots into an established architectural and interior design practice working across a wide range of sectors and locations. While much of our work remains close to home, our projects and relationships have increasingly taken us further afield – and London has become an important part of that story.
So, perhaps it was only a matter of time before Axis had a base in the capital.
We are delighted to announce that Axis Architecture now has a second office in London. And we couldn’t have chosen a more fitting place to call home.
Our new London base is at Quo Vadis on 26-29 Dean Street, Soho. And, if we’re honest, it feels very much like us.
Why London, and why now?
Over the years, we have built strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and collaborators across the UK. Our Hampshire office remains at the heart of the practice, but a significant proportion of our work takes us to London.
London has always been a city that inspires us. It is a place where architecture, interiors, culture, business and creativity constantly overlap. For a practice like Axis, that makes it an exciting place to be.
Our approach has always been about more than simply producing drawings. We believe good architecture comes from understanding people, how they use spaces and what they need those spaces to achieve. That philosophy applies equally to a family home, a commercial development, an interior or a complex technical project.
Being able to spend more time in London means we can be closer to our clients and collaborators when it matters, while still bringing the experience and personal approach that has defined Axis for more than 30 years.
It also gives us somewhere to meet.
And that was important to us.
Finding the right space
We didn’t want just another office.
We could have chosen a conventional serviced office, a corporate workspace or a desk somewhere in a large commercial building. But somehow, none of those options felt like Axis.
We wanted somewhere with personality.
Somewhere we would genuinely enjoy spending time. Somewhere our clients would enjoy coming to meet us. Somewhere that could become a natural meeting point for conversations, ideas, collaborations and, of course, a good meal or drink.
So we looked.
And we looked some more.
After searching across London for that elusive combination of location, atmosphere and character, we found it at Quo Vadis, on Dean Street in Soho.
Welcome to Quo Vadis
Quo Vadis is a vibrant and distinctive members’ club in the heart of Soho, with a character all of its own.
For us, the location is more than simply convenient. It reflects something about who we are as a practice.
At Axis, we have always believed that design should have personality. Our work combines technical knowledge and careful detailing with creativity, individuality and a strong interest in how people experience a space. Our interior design work is similarly focused on creating functional environments, considered and tailored to the people who use them.
So why shouldn’t our London base feel the same?
Quo Vadis is a place where people come together. It is creative, social, established but not stuffy, and full of the kind of energy that makes you want to stay for another conversation.
It feels like somewhere we can meet clients and collaborators, talk about projects, exchange ideas and perhaps discover what comes next.
And Soho itself provides the perfect backdrop.
Step outside, and you are immediately surrounded by some of London’s most interesting streets, buildings, businesses, restaurants, galleries and creative spaces. For architects and designers, it is difficult not to be inspired by the constant mix of old and new.
If that’s not enough, Quo Vadis has a restaurant on the ground floor, run by the renown chef Jeremy Lee, and the food is out of this world!
A second office, not a second identity
Our London presence isn’t about moving away from our Hampshire roots.
Quite the opposite.
Our South Coast office remains the home of Axis Architecture and the base from which our team continues to deliver projects across Hampshire, the South Coast and the wider UK.
The London office simply gives us another place to work.
It means we can bring our experience, expertise and approach to London more directly, while continuing to work nationally. Our practice already operates across a broad range of sectors, providing architectural design, interior design, principal designer and other professional services.
It is also an exciting opportunity for us to strengthen relationships with the people we already work with in London and to build new ones.
For a small practice like Axis, relationships matter.
We have always valued direct communication with our clients, with our directors personally involved in projects. That personal approach is something we intend to maintain, wherever the project happens to be.
Come and see us
We are excited about what this new chapter will bring.
After more than 30 years of designing buildings and interiors, developing relationships and adapting to a changing industry, opening a London base feels like a natural evolution for Axis.
It gives us a new place to meet, collaborate and work, but it also allows us to become even more connected to a city where we already have strong links.
And, most importantly, we have found somewhere that feels right.
So, if you are in London, come and meet us at Quo Vadis.
Come and have a look around. Come and talk architecture. Come and talk interiors. Come and talk about a project you have been thinking about. Or simply come and say hello.
You’ll find us at Quo Vadis, 26-29 Dean Street, Soho. https://www.quovadissoho.co.uk/
We’d love to see you there. Two locations. One practice.
And plenty more to come.
